Open Eyes, INC.

Technology that opens doors for everyone.

Open Eyes is an organization that helps people who are blind or visually impaired, older adults and young people use technology and media with confidence, safety and independence.

People of different ages, one with a white cane, using tablets, phones and a laptop beside a colorful open-eye symbol.

Close your eyes and try your phone

When we ask people who can see to close their eyes and try to use their smartphone, the reactions are the same within seconds: confusion, then frustration, then a quiet realization of how much is built for sight.

That moment of awareness is where Open Eyes begins. For many people it is not an exercise. It is every day.

A word from our founder

Chanell A. Briggs, Founder and CEO, started Open Eyes after watching a family member who is blind meet barrier after barrier in a world built around screens and apps. Technology that is meant to connect us was, without anyone intending it, leaving people out.

Open Eyes is her answer: patient, practical help so that people can use technology on their own terms, with confidence, dignity and independence.
